Development Cell The Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt. of India, selected Govt. Polytechnic, Nilokheri in 1979, as Community Polytechnic. The following areas of activities are taken under this scheme are: - 1. SOCIO ECONOMIC SURVEY & PLANNING Identify the felt needs and job potential in the rural areas. 2. MAN POWER DEVELOPMENT & TRAINING Programme for the local people in basic skill. 3. TRANSFER OF TECHNOLOGIES To improve quality of life in the rural areas. 4. SUPPORT SERVICES To meet priority needs like drinking water, low cost housing etc. 5. TECHNICAL SERVICES Through service camps. 6. DISSEMINATION OF INFORMATION For creating awareness on various developmental schemes and ways for improving quality of life in villages. The Community Development Cell of this Polytechnic has established 187 extension centres for imparting 6 months training in different trades and has trained 5008 unemployed youths. This training is provided free of cost. At present 336 rural youths are under training in the Institution and 13 nos. Extension Centre. It has provided technical services to about 430 villages through camps. The technical support services and transfer of technology has also benefited 430 villages through Community Development Cell of Distt. Karnal, Kurukshetra, Jind, Yamuna Nagar and Panipat.
